True North Technologies Celebrates 15 Years of Compass Manufacturing

(Maynard, MA) In 1997, after spending several years trying to design and build a digital compass for SCUBA diving, a small startup company found out that there was a robust market for electronic or (as they were known then) strap-down compasses. A manufacturing agreement with a Fortune 100 company launched True North into the OEM compass business, and 15 years and 25,000 compasses later, things are still “heading” in the right direction. We are still making products for our original customer and have developed our own line of Revolution compasses that incorporate a number of technological advances that have come about due to improvements in components and our increasingly sophisticated knowledge of calibration procedures. The latest configurations of our compasses are going downhole in gas and oil exploration – who would have guessed that in 1997. Thanks to everyone who has helped us make it into our teenage years.

True North Technologies develops and manufactures products for marine, air, and land-based applications with a concentration in electronic compassing.
